Attended by about 200 researchers, the conference aims at encouraging cross-discipline research.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I consider this conference an opportunity to call for help\u2019, Kevin says, \u2018As a discipline, interpreting is seriously under researched and very often misunderstood\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, Kevin will talk about the disconnect between the reality of interpreting and prevalent understanding of it. He\u2019ll highlight potentials for cross-disciplinary research. It spans linguistics, psychology, sociology, engineering, product design, translation studies and artificial intelligence. He\u2019ll also comment on the prospect of computers replacing interpreters and translators.<\/p>\n<p>KL Communications is the collaborator of MA Business Interpreting in Chinese at the University of Surrey \u2013 a success in its fifth year.
